Roles & Responsibilities

As a Financial Crimes Associate at Wells Fargo, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting low to moderate complexity financial crime risk initiatives.
  • Investigating, negotiating, and mitigating potential fraud or operational risk cases.
  • Examining evidence and analyzing financial crime findings to identify risk levels.
  • Reviewing issues and delivering solutions for lower-risk operational tasks.
  • Researching suspicious transactions, policy violations, and potential fraud.
  • Performing data analysis to identify unusual activity, trends, or fraudulent schemes.
  • Drafting reports, findings, and risk evaluations to recommend preventive measures.
  • Providing litigation support and fraud awareness training under supervision.
  • Collaborating with teams and stakeholders to mitigate financial risk.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Minimum 6+ months of experience in Financial Crimes, Fraud Detection, Operational Risk, Sanctions, or Anti-Bribery compliance.
  • Work experience, training, military service, or education in relevant domains.

Desired Skills & Experience

  • 6+ months of experience in AML (Anti-Money Laundering) investigations, transaction monitoring, and financial crime risk analysis.
  • Strong knowledge of AML models, fraud detection systems, and suspicious activity monitoring.
  • Ability to identify red flags and validate financial crime alerts.
  • Excellent research, data analysis, and critical thinking skills.
  • Strong communication (verbal & written) and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure, manage deadlines, and prioritize tasks in a dynamic environment.
  • Collaboration skills with cross-functional teams.
  • Note: Candidates with only KYC, Sanctions, or PEP Screening experience need not apply.

Job Expectations

  • Conduct AML investigations and transaction monitoring effectively.
  • Provide clear documentation of findings, controls, and recommendations.
  • Support MIS reporting and act as a point of contact for risk-related data.
  • Ensure compliance with Wells Fargo governance and regulatory policies.
