About the Role

ParallelDots is seeking a skilled Data Engineer with expertise in Business Intelligence (BI) and data-driven analytics. The ideal candidate will have experience in Databricks, Google BigQuery, and modern BI tools to deliver actionable insights from large-scale datasets. This role combines technical data engineering with stakeholder collaboration to enable effective decision-making and enhance business intelligence capabilities.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Partner with business teams to gather data requirements and translate them into robust data pipelines and BI solutions.
• Query, extract, and process data from Databricks, Google BigQuery, and other enterprise sources.
• Build and optimize data transformation workflows to support analytics and reporting.
• Develop and maintain interactive dashboards and data visualizations using Power BI, Tableau, or Looker.
• Ensure data quality, validation, and consistency across multiple data sources.
• Deliver analytical reports and actionable insights to drive business growth and strategy.
• Document data models, workflows, and metrics for transparency and scalability.
• Act as a key liaison between business and technical stakeholders to ensure data alignment.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Analytics, or Information Systems.
• Strong SQL proficiency and hands-on experience with Databricks (PySpark/SQL) and Google BigQuery.
• Experience using BI tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or Looker.
• Understanding of data modeling, ETL/ELT processes, and KPI tracking.
• Proficiency in Python or equivalent scripting languages for automation.
• Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data and provide insights.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Skills (Nice-to-Have)

• Experience with retail domain data (sales, promotions, inventory, or supply chain).
• Familiarity with data orchestration tools like Airflow, Prefect, or dbt.
• Understanding of data storytelling and visualization best practices.
• Exposure to data governance and cataloging principles.
• Hands-on experience with cloud platforms like GCP, AWS, or Azure.
